Madico Window Films Offers Solutions for Spontaneous Glass Breakage
Did you know that certain types of common glass can shatter without any warning signs? It is most common in tempered, thermally treated glass (TTG) that is found in public buildings such as shopping malls, airports, etc. The issue is caused by an imperfection that occurs at the glass manufacturing level. While relatively rare, it can pose a safety risk and injuries due to this spontaneous glass breakage have been reported.
Madico has a number of tested solutions available to keep shattered glass in place if failure occurs. When the glass shards are held together on the window, the risk of physical harm to innoncent bystanders and property are greatly reduced.
Our Technical Services team has put together a technical bulletin covering this phenomenon. You can read the complete document here. It can also be found in the Technical Resources section of our website.
