Process Engineer (5/9/2008)
At Madico Inc., we have been creating imaginative products for over 100 years. We are a producer of high quality pressure-sensitive coated films. Our transparent window, solar control, security and safety films are used for homes, cars, offices and industry. Madico, a leading producer of energy saving window film is currently seeking a full time Process Engineer.
JOB SUMMARY:
Optimization of current manufacturing processes for improved quality, productivity, and profitability as well as to design, implement, and maintain the necessary documentation and systems for the manufacturing processes and quality improvement activities. Provide the necessary support to manufacturing for processes and quality activities. Provides guidance and instruction to the process and quality assurance technicians.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (including but not limited to the following)
*Lead and/or participate in equipment, process and quality improvement projects and trials.
*Assessment and recommendation of new processes.
*Participate and facilitate R&D new product trials and product turnover to production.
*Troubleshoot process and quality problems related to the manufacturing processes, suppliers, and customers.
*Develop and revise operating specifications, standards, and manufacturing procedures in support of daily operations.
*Maintain B.O.M's and Production Routing on BPCS for specific product families.
*Provide technical assistance to and work with Production, Purchasing, Suppliers, Customer Service, Sales R&D, Project Engineering, and Maintenance.
*Provide training to Operators and Process Technicians and others in dealing with daily process and quality problems.
*Provide direction and coaching to the Process Technicians in daily activities, Process Engineering projects and trial coverage.
*Support the converting department process for specific product families.
*Perform all work in a manner providing for safety and health of self and other plant personnel.
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
BS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Industrial Industry
Experience in continuous web coating or chemical processing
Six Sigma and statistical expertise preferred
Working knowledge of problem solving, including Design of Experiments, and Process Capability studies
Computer literate
Good verbal skills as well as the ability to work in a union environment
Dexterity and preciseness required to operate gauges and testing equipment
Intimately familiar with coating and testing methods utilized in the coating industry.
