Photovoltaic/Solar Panel Laminations

Madico offers a variety of backsheet constructions and colors to meet the specific requirements of solar panel designs.  All backsheets are based on the lean and efficient use of the best materials available.  Each conforms to the untmost level of  performance, reliability and conformity to IEC, UL and industry standards.  Please see the appended data sheets for each design’s characteristics.

Madico is the pioneer of many industry firsts such as:

Dielectric Bonding Technology (DBT): This ground breaking development pioneered the reduction of PVF burden in backsheets by requiring only one layer of Tedlar® film.  This more cost effective design allows for increased panel power through light reflection and can be custom colored and has excellent adhesion to panel encapsulant.  Additionally dielectric performance can be easily controlled via thickness, such that 1,000 VDC performances can be easily accommodated with the TPE HD design.

TPE Bright White: Another breakthrough that taught the PV panel industry the potential of power boost via light reflection of the backsheet.  The bright white characteristics of the EVA layer is proven to reflect a portion of the light that falls into the spaces between cells back onto the cell for conversion.  The use of TPE Bright White provides the industry with a 1-5% boost in panel power.

Protekt: A new PV backsheet laminate that combines all the benefits of Madico’s TPE. It does this without any performance compromise over Tedlar®, which is precious and under allocation, and with a much improved supply chain basis.  Protekt uses a high performance film cast in a special process that, when applied to the base Dielectric Bonding layers of PET/EVA, results in a laminate with excellent stability characteristics for vacuum laminating processes and outdoor use. The new Protekt has improved permeability and dielectric performance and is available with custom colored EVA layers too.  Available with a variety of options and custom colors.

DuPont New Tedlar 2111: A multi-layered laminate designed as a backsheet for Photovoltaic solar panels. The lamination acts as a durable barrier for panel shaped electronics that undergo heat and vacuum lamination. TPE HD 2111 is manufactured with a new cast Tedlar® Film PV2111. The PV2111 film utilizes the same base polymer as traditional Tedlar® film and exhibits similar chemical properties and performance but is produced differently. TPE HD 2111 uses the same Dielectric Bonding layers of PET/EVA and results in a laminate with good stability characteristics for vacuum laminating processes and outdoor use.
